01
Participant screening
Every applicant completes a written application followed by a screening conversation. We assess readiness, fit, and any safety considerations. Forge reserves the right to decline any application where the program may not be safe or appropriate.
02
Risk management
Every activity is risk-assessed in advance. We balance meaningful challenge with proportionate safeguards — physical, environmental, and psychological. Activities scale to capability without compromising the standard.
03
Emergency response planning
Each intake operates under a documented Emergency Action Plan covering injury, illness, severe weather, fire, missing persons, and evacuation. Satellite communications and check-in protocols are in place on every remote intake. See our full Safety & Emergency Policy.
04
Facilitator qualifications
Facilitators hold current First Aid and CPR certifications. Remote-area first aid, mental health first aid, and Working with Children Checks are held where the role and setting require them. Facilitators are experienced in group work and outdoor leadership.
05
Safety-first approach
Anyone — participant or facilitator — has stop-work authority. If something isn't safe, we stop. The program is challenging by design; recklessness is not part of it.
06
Insurance coverage
Forge maintains public liability and professional indemnity insurance for program operations. Personal travel insurance and ambulance cover remain the participant's responsibility.
07
Privacy commitment
We collect only what is needed to assess applications and run the program safely. We never sell or trade your information. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
08
Respect & confidentiality
What is shared inside the cohort stays inside the cohort. Photography or recording of other participants requires explicit consent. Our Code of Conduct sets the standard for every person on every intake.
